Independent charity Crimestoppers is launching a campaign across the North East of England to raise awareness of its youth brand Fearless and to empower young people to report crime 100% anonymously through Fearless.org. The charity is also offering free training for professionals who work with young people on 27 March 2025.
The four-week campaign will be on Snapchat, Spotify and Google Ads. The campaign also includes a free one-hour training session for North East professionals who work with young people.
Fearless.org provides non-judgemental information and advice about crime. It offers a vital, alternative way for young people who don’t want to speak to the police to pass on what they know about a crime, without having to give any personal details and 100% anonymously. Through Fearless, young people can safely share information on crime without fear of being identified.
Despite being affected by crime, young people are less likely to speak up, often due to worries about speaking to the police.
Crimestoppers, and its youth service Fearless, are independent of the police. A free one-hour training session will take place online at 11am on 27 March 2025. The session is for professionals working with young people across the North East of England. It will cover the Fearless anonymous reporting service and how to speak to young people about barriers to reporting crime.
The session will look at the difference between ‘snitching’ and reporting, along with the bystander approach, and what it means to be an ‘active bystander’, which describes choosing to take appropriate action when you know that behaviour is not acceptable.
